Sounds kind of crazy, doesn’t it? But it’s soon to be possible. Dubai is currently constructing a city called Falcon City of Wonders. A city in the shape of a falcon that houses the Great Wall of China, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Pyramids of Giza and so on. Now you can cheat at travel! What will they come up with next? They also said some of the replicated Wonders will be Business Offices… A bit strange.. No? I figure it would be some kind of tourist attraction but I guess they have other plans. I’m not sure how I feel about something like this, but I think it’s worth checking out when it’s done… in 2010. I guess I’ll have to put Dubai on my list of places to go.

Where the head of the falcon is a shopping mall, the wings and body of the falcon is distributed into residential villas with different styles and themes. The legs are a collection of 4-6 story buildings with different themes ranging from Happy Yemen, Lebanon down town Solider, India Taj Mahal, Rome’s Leaning Tower of Pisa, Italian Gondola boats of Venice, and London’s Big Ben. The Falconcity includes multi-purpose/ residential buildings, Eiffel Tower (taller than original), Taj Mahal (bigger than the original), Hanging Gardens of Babylon that have never been seen before, Great Wall of China, and the Pyramids of Giza. I watched a promo video on youtube about this project and I can’t but wonder if a place like this will end up a giant Disney World or Las Vegas. The video is super cheesey and just watching it gave me a good chuckle. Check it out for yourself.
