Chincoteague Island - It’s all about the horses

Most of you have most likely never heard about this place. Located on the Chesapeake Peninsula, a short drive from Norfolk, its an excellent place to be. If your looking for untouched beaches, here is the place to go. Right off the Atlantic Ocean and US-13 in Virginia, its located about 3 hours from Baltimore and Washington. But little do most people know, that in Mid June, ponies- yes wild ponies swim from the island to the shore! its quite the site to see. Its not known to have many hotels, but there are quite a few homes for rent and some quaint places to eat with the girlfriend. GREAT sunsets, and very quiet- also known to have some excellent shells. Visit Bills Cafe or Sea Star Cafe in downtown, then go do some wildlife watching if thats what your interested in. There are some places to rent bikes as well great trails along the seashore and town, and a few local pubs that are based on those found in Ireland. Town is also known for some great seafood, and if you dont like to eat fish caught by others- charter a boat and do some deep sea fishing!
