The Guinness Factory/Brewery in Dublin
If you ever get the chance to go to Dublin, or Ireland for that matter, definitely make a stop in the Guinness Factory.
It was the highlight of my Ireland trip, and is by far the most interesting brewery I’ve been to.
It is the largest brewery in the world and has fermented Guinness beer from 1904 – 1988. Even if you have no interest in how beer is fermented, which I previously did not, you will still be amazed by this place.
The tour is seven floors and on each one is something new to look at and learn about. My favorite floor is the first, where you find out the actual ingredients used in creating the lager. You can touch, taste, and smell the barley, hops, and yeast. Also, there’s the tasting laboratory where you can sample the unique Guinness taste.
The top floor is one of the best parts of the tour called the Gravity Bar, where you are served a free pint of Guinness and can hang out in a circular, huge glass room which has a beautiful panoramic view of Dublin. The tour is relatively inexpensive and well worth a visit if you are traveling to Ireland.
