During this month, July of 2008, Amsterdam will now be enforcing a new law that will prohibit smoking in any coffee shops or cafes which are scattered around the city. The Dutch government will be implementing this law because they are planning to stop allowing any type of smoking (whether it be tobacco or cannabis) in everyday restaurants and establishments, so they must also enforce it in the coffee shops. The reason behind this is that the government thinks it’s not right to expose employees to smoke as well as customers who do not want to be around second hand smoke.

Think this will decrease the number of tourists who come to Amsterdam? I guess we’ll find out…
