Fun Facts on Oslo

Student travel is big in Europe, so a lot of European students come to visit Oslo. You’ll meet students from all over Europe and they all speak English well. Norwegians watch a lot of American TV shows and listen to American music as well – so you’ll have a lot to talk about! Oslo Airport (OSL) is Norway’s largest airport and it won’t take you more than about 20 minutes (on a high speed train) to get to the city centre, the damage will be about NOK 80, with a student ID. Oslo offers great public transportation (metro, bus and tram) but taking a taxi is expensive, so think twice before you jump into a cab if you’re on a budget. A few more things you should know:

• The Norwegian country dialing code is +47 (telephone)
• Tap water is among the cleanest in the world; so don’t waste money on bottled water!
• It’s easy to get from Oslo to other big Scandinavian cities, like Gothenburg, Copenhagen or Stockholm. You can get there by train, bus or ferry.
