The early scenes of Gladiator were shot here, at Ait Benhaddou, Ouarzazate, Morocco. This Kasbah is surrounded by the snow-covered peaks of the Atlas Mountains, and the sands of the Sahara. This location is so perfect that it has been used by other movie directors such as David Lean, Bernardo Bertolucci and Martin Scorsese.
